HexArmor SteelLeather III 5033 Protective Driver's Gloves

Ensuring that you are wearing the right gloves while driving for extended periods or working with potentially dangerous materials can provide a greater level of comfort. The HexArmor SteelLeather III 5033 Protective Driver's Gloves offer protection both to the hand and the knuckles while providing increased comfort and resistance against punctures.

Applications of the Driver's Gloves

Offering protection to the hands while driving and handling potentially harmful objects, the Driver's Gloves are suitable for multiple roles and duties, including:

  • Interstate and long-haul drivers
  • Taxi drivers and chauffeurs
  • Warehouse work
  • Materials handlers
  • Timber and wood panel handlers

Improved Comfort

The Driver's Gloves are designed to provide long-distance and frequent drivers with relief from the strains placed upon the hands when operating a vehicle for extended periods of time. The fabric provides a comforting and supportive grip while preventing the skin from coming into direct contact with hard and often abrasive surfaces. They are designed to fit securely, with a SlipFit cuff ensuring they are quick to remove between tasks.

Cut-Resistant Material

The Driver's Gloves feature an interior layer designed from SuperFabric brand materials. This makes the gloves cut resistant, and therefore practical for handling sharp objects such as wires, metal, wood, and glass.

Reliable grip

The goatskin leather palm provides a more durable and long-lasting glove, which helps to increase their reliability. The grip is enhanced for objects that are dry or coated in light oil. This can provide peace of mind that objects are not going to slip away and fall out of reach when handling potentially contaminated items.

Knuckle Protection

Providing extra support for the knuckle area, the gloves include a knuckle patch that is resistant to both cuts and abrasions. This will be particularly useful should any incidental bumps or other impact occur, and will also enable further protection when working quickly with hands and subjecting them to frequent knocks.

Sizing of the Driver's Gloves

Wearing the correct size of gloves will provide the most effective level of protection. To find the glove size required, measure the circumference around the knuckles, excluding the thumb. The hand should be open with the fingers together.

Please refer to the table below for further sizing information.

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.

Where Can I Find Out More?

This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.
