Protection Ratings and Standards for Polyco Hi-Viz Safety Gloves
EN 388
EN 388: 2141X
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 2 |
Cut Resistance | Level 1 |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 1 |

Suitable Applications and Environments for Polyco Matrix Safety Gloves
Please view the list below for a few example professions and environments that suit Polyco Hi-Viz 90-MAT Safety Gloves best:
Incredible Value for Money
Purchasable in minimum order quantities of 12 pairs per order, Polyco Thermal Matrix Gloves are designed for outfitting entire workforces, or for individuals bulk-purchasing for the winter in order to keep costs down. Available at an inexpensive price point, they provide an incredible range of mechanical, visibility and thermal protection for their money.
Thermal Liner Provides Protection Throughout Winter
Anybody who's worked a handling, packing, shipping or loading job during winter knows the value of proper gloves. You simply cannot work properly without them.
Kitted with level 1 contact-heat resistance under EN 511 and a thermal liner, Polyco Hi-Viz Safety Gloves ensure that no matter how cold material gets, you carry on working to get the job done.
Stay Safe and Seen
Demonstrated in the images above, Polyco Matrix Hi-Viz Thermal Gloves are manufactured to enhance visibility. Their blue and yellow design ensures that no matter where you are or what you're doing, everyone on site and in the vicinity can see you.
This design ensures you stay safe and seen in high traffic areas.
Contact Hold Resistance
The second EN 511 hazard rating addresses contact-cold resistance. Polyco Hi-Viz Thermal Gloves are certified as a level 1 protective contact cold glove, meaning they will prevent a large amount of cold transferring from material through and onto your hands.
What Are the Benefits of a Latex Coating?
Latex is an incredibly durable, cost-efficient coating. Its widespread use and subsequently inexpensive nature means that gloves manufactured with it are inexpensive whilst remaining high quality.
Latex coated gloves also tend to have a higher puncture and tear resistance than their nitrile counterparts.
Crinkle Latex Coated Grip Enhancement
The difference between Matrix Thermal Contact Cold Gloves and a standard pair of latex coated safety gloves is their use of a crinkle coating. This is a game changer for packing, loading, shipping and manual handling professionals.
A crinkle treatment refers to the raising of the coating to create a stippled effect. This intuitive, slightly abrasive and textured finish ensures material and parts stick to the users hand better, preventing slips, drops and other accidents.
Seriously Durable Across-the-Board EN 388 Protection
Not only do Polyco Thermal Gloves guard against the cold, they also protect against cuts, abrasions, tearing and punctures. Boasting a level 4 tear resistance rating, these gloves are built to last.
Elasticated Knit Wrist
An elasticated knit wrist not only stabilises the joint to maximise comfort and fatigue resistance; it also works to prevent dirt and debris entering the glove, ensuring tiny fibres, molecules and moisture droplets can't enter to cause irritation and nasty reactions.
