Protection Ratings and Safety Standards
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 3 |
Cut Resistance | Level 1 |
Tear Resistance | Level 2 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 1 |
ISO Cut Resistance | N/A |

Perfect for the All-Round Tradesman
If you're a tradesman, you'll know the value of a well-rounded work glove that lets you lift, transfer, pack away, clear up and use material, tools and equipment of all different shapes and sizes. Polyco Nitrile Grip Gloves are designed in that mould, with an emphasis on grip that prevents drops, slips and on-site accidents.
What Are the Benefits of a Nitrile Coating?
Nitrile not only eliminates issues with allergic and dermatological reactions and flareups; it works non-stop to absorb tiny particles of moisture and liquid that linger on the face of the glove, compromising grip strength and stability. Nitrile is a tried and tested coating that has been used on gloves for decades due to its robust, durable and wear and tear resistant properties.
How Do Polyco Matrix Nitrile Gloves Enhnace Grip?
Nitrile is excellent at "sucking up" microscopic moisture and liquid residue that commonly lingers on the palm and fingertips. This leaves a dry, crisp surface that enhances grip strength and stability, allowing the user to safely pick up, handle and transfer material without worrying about damp causing slippages and loss of grip.
How Does a Full Coating Enhance Protection?
When purchasing safety gloves, there are multiple different coatings available. These include full, palm-only, fingertip and knuckle, amongst others.
Polyco Nitrile Grip Gloves are designed with the rigours of on-site activity in mind, utilising the complete protection that a full coating offers. To protect the entire hand they coat the fingers, backside and palm in a robust layer of nitrile which prevents scuffs, abrasions and cuts ruining your hands.
Affordable and Inexpensive Design
Outfitting you and your team for a job shouldn't break the bank. Polyco Grip Gloves are refined, affordable and above all else are designed to keep costs down without compromising on safety, integrity and durability.
Elasticated Knit Wrist Secures Your Fit
Building and construction sites are a nightmare for dust and other tiny particles lingering in the air. An elasticated knit wrist ensures that dirt, dust and debris do not enter the glove when you're clearing up, sanding down or transferring equipment at the end of the day.
This helps prevent dermatological conditions like eczema, rashes and dermatitis developing on your hands due to irritation and adverse reaction.

What is EN 388?
You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.
There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.
How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?
Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.
Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.
