Protection Ratings and Safety Standards for Polyco Weldmaster Safety Gloves
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 2 |
Cut Resistance | N/A |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 1 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level C |
EN 407
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Burning Resistance | Level 4 |
Contact Heat Resistance | Level 2 (250°C) |
Convective Heat Resistance | Level 3 |
Radiant Heat Resistance | N/A |
Resistance to Small Molten Splashes | Level 4 |
Resistance to Large Molten Splashes | N/A |

Suitable Applications and Environments for Polyco Heat and Flame Resistant Gauntlets
Please view the list below to see which applications, environments and jobs suit Polyco Heatmaster Welding Gloves best:
Thick and Bulky Gauntlet Design
Designed to cover the maximum amount of surface area possible, Polyco Weldmaster Safety Gloves use a thick foundation fabric and wide, chunky fingers to promote a thorough grip across the entire hand. This bulky design extends to the wrists, where their traditional gauntlet design protects the wrist and forearm from small amounts of molten and hazardous splash.
Incredible Flammability Resistance
Under EN 407, the maximum flammability resistance rating attainable is level 4 which indicates the fabric will cease to burn in under two seconds once exposed to an ignition source.
Contact Heat Safety Range
Contact-heat resistance is what allows the safe handling, transfer and inspection of seriously hot material without burning or scalding your hands. Polyco Weldmaster Gloves offer level 2 resistance, protecting the hands against material with a temperature not exceeding 250°C for up to 15 seconds.
Type A Welding Safe Certified
Type A welding or MIG welding is used in the auto industry for repairing vehicle exhausts and creating integral parts involved in home refurbishment, repair and building. Type A is one of the most common types of welding and involves a shielding gas specific welding gun to protect against contamination.
Plush Thermal Lining
Fed up of itchy and irritated hands when you take your gloves off at the end of the day? Unlike other welding gloves and gauntlets, Polyco Weldmaster Safety Gloves are designed and manufactured with a plush interior thermal lining to prevent discomfort and irritation when working.
