HexArmor Needle Resistant Gloves Protection Ratings
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Hazard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | N/A |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 2 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level F |

Supplemental Need Resistance Test
The protective materials were also tested independent of SATRA labs, using a modified ASTM 1342 standard of puncture resistance. The modified test uses a much sharper 25 gauge medical grade needle, giving a more realistic needlestick resistance demonstration.
Please view the table below to see how HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Safety Gloves compare with other work gloves:
Material Tested | Average Puncture Resistance |
HexArmor with SuperFabric | 825 grams |
Leather Work Gloves | 104 Grams |
Coated Nylon 1000D Glove | 77 grams |
Cotton Work Glove | 64 grams |

Suitable Applications for HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Safety Gloves
HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Safety Gloves have been designed with law enforcement and similar industries in mind, focusing on meeting the high demands faced in these jobs such as high risk search situations. However these safety gloves offer a high level of protection and flexibility which make them well suited to a number of other industries and uses including:
BACK-OF-HAND PROTECTION
Additional padding is used at the back-of-hand and around the knuckles to protect against accidental bumps and impacts. This impact and bump protection is show in the image below:
GRIP STRENGTH AND STABILITY ENHANCEMENT
The use of a new larger silicone pattern on the underside of the hand/ palm (as shown below) enhances grip strength and stability no matter what your application.
HexArmor 4041 Gloves Needlestick Protection
HexArmor NSR 4041 Needlestick Gloves are manufactured using layers of SuperFabric material. SuperFabric is a patented fabric constructed out of guard-plates that block, deflect and trap needles before they can perforate through a glove's fabric. Multiple layers of this fabric ensure HexArmor Needle-Proof Safety Gloves provide extra resistance against all needle related hazards.
Hypodermic Needle Tested
HexArmor NSR 4041 Needlestick Safety Gloves are tested using actual 25 gauge hypodermic needles. This is an additional test undertaken by HexArmor on top of European Union regulations in order to display a much more realistic representation of working conditions and protection.
Maximum Level F Cut Resistance Rating
In tandem with needle stick protection, HexArmor 4041 Needle Proof Safety Gloves are some of the most cut-resistant gloves on the market today. They offer Level F resistance, which is the highest awarded under EN 388. This rating is the difference between a blade cutting straight through to your skin and it becoming lodged between tightly woven cut-proof fibres.
