How Durable Are the CW100 Goatskin Leather Gloves?

The main selling point of the CW100 Gloves is their durability. Thanks to their thick leather lining and durable reinforced patch, the gloves can be handle tough and coarse materials without the gloves breaking apart or suffering from wear and tear. The gloves are suitable for year round outdoor work, suitable for handling timber, wood, shrubbery, materials and more.

How Comfortable Are the CW100 Goatskin Outdoor Gloves?

As the CW100 Gloves are thick, they offer a good level of comfort during use. The thicker design and reinforced patch mean that sharper or rougher items won't penetrate the gloves and feel uncomfortable during use. This allows you to handle many items outdoors without strain on your hands, perfect for outdoor work.

How Flexible Are the Cutter Outdoor Gloves?

While the gloves are extra thick, they still offer enough dexterity to handle most materials outdoors. They are probably too thick to use power tools and other types of machinery, but when it comes to using spades or hammers, then these gloves are ideal.

In What Environments Can I Use the CW100 Outdoor Gloves?

We would recommend using the CW100 Outdoor Gloves for most general outdoor tasks. They can be used in:

  • Mild to warm weather
  • Damp weather
  • Outdoor work

If you want some gloves for cold weather work, we would recommend taking a look at our Thermal Gloves category.

How Thick Are the Cutter CW100 Leather Gloves?

The CW100 Gloves are extra thick with a special reinforced patch. The thickness means that you can handle most items without them penetrating the hands and skin, perfect for most outdoor tasks.

How Grippy Are the Cutter CW100 Leather Outdoor Gloves?

If you're handling items like timber and wood, then you will need a good level of grip. The CW100 Gloves use a special reinforced patch that offers not just mechanical protection, but a good level of grip when handling items. The gloves can even be used to handle damp items without grip being compromised.

What is EN 388?

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.

Where Can I Find Out More?

This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.

The gloves arrived quickly as promised and are of a high quality. I'm a DIYer, so I don't use them daily, but they have protected my hands well when handling rough wood, which is what I bought them for. I'm pleased with them.

very good gloves

These gloves are very good, I have purchased a couple of pairs of these, as well as the Cutter CW300 and the Delta Plus FBN49.

A personally prefer at the moment the CW300, but they are more expensive, i would probably put the Delta plus second and then these CW100, based on fit (large in my case).

Still all very good or excellent gloves, if you can afford the more expensive CW300, i would go with those.

I have had these gloves before and can’t recommend them highly enough.
Soft and supple but really protective against thorns. Excellent when working with hawthorn, holly and brambles.

Brilliant gloves

My husband has been using these gloves for a few years now for gardening. They are far superior to any others. He has in the past had them from the local farmers suppliers, and I was delighted to find them available here by mail order. I ordered five pairs and they arrived within 48 hours. I will definitely be ordering from this company again. Good service and a top quality product.

I just use these gloves for general gardening. They are the most comfortable gardening gloves I’ve ever come across. Their longevity isn’t brilliant but at this price I don’t care. Good delivery time and easy to navigate website. Thanks

I've been using these for about three years during the summer months as a Water Fed Pole window cleaner.

They're breathable being un lined and very comfortable. They last me about 3months befor I wear the inside of the index finger out. The fit is spot on.

Cutter CW100 Original Work Gloves

I have used these gloves many times, and they are excellent - by far the best light duty gloves for general horticultural and other manual tasks. Perfect balance of reasonable protection and dexterity.
Their life (and that of my fingers!), is also improved by using Cutter's thicker gloves (also very good) for heavier tasks and for full thorn protection. Also given the quality they are the best value for money I have found, bar none..

Black Cutter on back of gloves.
Rating:

These gloves would be ideal for using as horse riding gloves, but most people dismiss these gloves for riding, because of the word ''Cutter'' stamped promitly on the back of the gloves. Not suitable when riding at horse events.
