Protection Ratings and Standards
To ensure these gloves provide you with the protection you need, they have been tested to a range of different standards. The results of mechanical resistance tests under EN 388 and EN 407 can be found in the tables below. More information on the standards to which these gloves have been certified can be found in the PDF documents near the bottom of this page.
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Hazard | Resistance Level |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 2 |
Cut Resistance | N/A |
Tear Resistance | Level 2 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 3 |
ISO Blade Cut Resistance | Level E |
EN 407
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Property | Resistance Level |
Burning Resistance | Level 4 |
Contact Heat Resistance | Level 2 (250°C) |
Convective Heat Resistance | Level 2 |
Radiant Heat Resistance | Level 1 |
Molten Metal Resistance (Small Splashes) | Level 4 |
Molten Metal Resistance (Large Splashes) | Level 1 |
WHAT IS AN ARC FLASH EVENT?
An arc flash event is an electrical explosion event that occurs when a connection moves through the air, to the ground or another voltage phase in an electrical system. The fallout from this explosion can reach temperatures in excess of 20,000°C.
Incredible Heat Resistance
HexArmor 4061 Safety Gloves go above and beyond in the realm of heat protection. A quick glance at the protection ratings table above show that. They have incredible burning flame protection, allow the user to handle material of up to 250°C in temperature and guard against both small and large splashes of molten metal.

HOW DO HEXARMOR CHROME SLT 4061 GLOVES PROTECT ME FROM HEAT?
The HexArmor Chrome SLT 4061 Gloves are constructed from retardant materials to keep the wearer safe from burning heat sources. Not only will the gloves insulate the weather against hot contact temperatures of 250°C, but will also ensure high-tier protection against molten splashes, making them great for refineries.
Exceptional Level E Cut Resistance Rating
Level E cut resistance is the second highest rating awarded under EN 388. It indicates that the fabric used in the manufacturing process can withstand up to an incredible 30 newtons of downward pressure applied by a sharp implement.
Goatskin Leather Palm Foundation Fabric
Goatskin is widely recognised as one of the most durable, resilient leathers. It is also more lightweight than standard leather, making it perfect for gloves. Goatskin leather is naturally waterproof, meaning it requires no extra treatment to keep condensation and water away from your hands. It also insulates amazingly, trapping more heat than any other leather.
How Dexterous Are the HexArmor Gloves?
HexArmor Gloves utilise a close-fitting, anatomic design and patented technology to provide impressive touch sensitivity and dexterity. Not only will these gloves feel like a second skin, but their extended safety cuffs won't impede your dexterity at all, allowing for extensive protection across the wrists.
