Protection Ratings
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used whilst working in and around mechanical machinery by measuring abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | Level 5 |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 2 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level C |
High Level Cut Resistance
Level 5 cut-resistance is the highest rating awarded under EN 388. This rating system stringently tests fabrics to determine their resistance to the sharp end on an implement applying downward force. This rating can be the difference between a blade slicing straight through fabric and skin and it becoming jammed in the resistant fibres protecting your hand.
Why a Palm and Finger Coating?
A palm and finger coating differs from a full coating in a number of ways. Firstly, it is ideal for the professional who likes a lighter, more slender feel. Secondly, because the back of the glove remains uncovered, trapped air, perspiration and sweat are allowed to freely exit the glove, preventing skin irritation and odour build-up.
What Does a Reinforced Thumb Crotch Do?
When you're handling dense, heavy material, your gloves experience a great deal of strain. This is felt most in the thumb crotch area. ATG MaxiCut 44-3445 Safety Gloves bolster this area with flexible fabric to prevent rips, tears and splitting.
360° of Breathability
There's nothing worse than taking your gloves off to find your skin is irritated, red and odorous. If this is a regular occurrence for you, chances are your gloves aren't breathable enough. ATG use 100% breathable fabric to ensure nasty molecules, perspiration, sweat and odour can exit the glove freely throughout the day.
