Protection Ratings and Standards
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | N/A |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 4 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level F |
EN 407
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Burning Resistance | N/A |
Contact Heat Resistance | Level 2 (250°C) |
Convective Heat Resistance | N/A |
Radiant Heat Resistance | N/A |
Resistance to Small Molten Splashes | N/A |
Resistance to Large Molten Splashes | N/A |
LEVEL F CUT RESISTANCE
Level F cut resistance is what prevents a blade, knife, machine part or jagged piece of sheet metal slicing straight through your hand. To receive a Level F rating (which few gloves do), a garment must prove it's resistance to an excess of an incredible 30 newtons of downward pressure applied by a sharp implement.
What Does This Actually Mean?
In plain terms, this means the fabric used to make up HexArmor 5039 SteelLeather Safety Gloves has proven it can jam, block and deflect seriously sharp objects. The tightly woven fibres and fabric strands work together to prevent hazardous material penetrating through and reaching your skin.
LEVEL 2 CONTACT HEAT RESISTANCE
Handling heated material is naturally incredibly dangerous. Material with a temperature of up to 250° has the potential to cause life threatening injury. HexArmor 5039 Level F Gloves let the user to handle objects heated to this temperature for up to fifteen seconds, allowing for the safe transfer, removal or disposal of incredible dangerous material.
360°C of Protection
Unlike other safety gloves, SteelLeather 5039 Gloves use a 360° protection system. This means not just the palm or the fingertips or the knuckles receive protection. No, the entire hand is coated in SuperFabric. This incredible system sets SteelLeather gloves apart. Rest easy knowing that no matter what your application, your entire hand is protected against cuts, abrasions and punctures.
COMPLETE PROTECTION RATINGS
A lot of gloves claim to offer incredible protection without the ratings to back their claim up. HexArmor 5039 Safety max out each and every EN 388 protection category, bringing Level 4 abrasion, puncture and tear resistance, as well as incredible Level F cut resistance to the party.
What Are the Benefits of Cowhide Leather?
Cowhide leather has a number of benefits when used as a foundation fabric for protective garments. Firstly, it is incredibly durable and beats out almost all other leathers in terms of aesthetic longevity. Secondly, cowhide leather is almost completely immune to rips and tears, making it ideal for use in fast-paced, heavy-duty handling applications.
SuperFabric Protection System
SuperFabric was developed in 1996 as a way of filling a gap in the market. At the time, safety gloves providing targeted sharps, blade and incision resistance were minimal. SuperFabric has since risen, branching out into a number of different areas to become an industry leader in PPE and protective fabric systems.
What Does It Do for My Hands?
Thanks to 360° protection, SuperFabric coats the entire glove, granting an incredible maximum level of protection against cutting, slashing, abrasions, punctures and incisions to the entire hand.
