How Much Oil Resistance Do they Provide?
The MaxiCut Oil Resistant Gloves have nitrile rubber coated palms which repels oils and liquids away from the glove's surface helping to keep hands dry and clean. Additionally, the palms are fitted with a leather pad for an added layer of resistance and a more secure grip in even slippery conditions. The back of the gloves however, do not provide oil resistance.
How Cut Resistant Are the MaxiCut Gloves?
Featuring a reinforced design and CUTtech technology, the MaxiCut Gloves are comfortable, lightweight yet offer good levels of cut resistance. CUTtech technology is used to create a material made from high performance yarns and fibres for flexibility and cut resistance. Thanks to these features, they achieve a medium level of cut resistance according to EN 388 standards and are therefore able to protect against mild lacerations.
How Do the MaxiCut Gloves Protect Against Heat?
In additions to oil and mechanical resistance, are the MaxiCut Gloves also offer contact heat resistance for protection against hot materials. They achieve an EN 407 rating of Level 1 for contact heat resistance, meaning they can withstand temperatures of up to 100°C for about 15 seconds.
EN 407
Hazard | Resistance Rating |
Burning | N/A |
Contact Heat | Level 1 |
Convective Heat | N/A |
Radiant Heat | N/A |
Molten Metal (Splashes) | N/A |
Molten Metal (Large Quantities) | N/A |
How Much Mechanical Protection Do the MaxiCut Oil Gloves Provide?
These gloves provide great all round protection from mechanical risks, a feature which can be supported by their EN 388 ratings. To achieve this rating, the gloves must undergo rigorous tests that determine their abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance. The MaxiCut Level C Oil Gloves have the following EN 388 ratings:
EN 388
Hazard | Level of Resistance |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | Level 3 |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 2 |
Blade Cut | Level C |
What Do These Scores Mean?
Each score is rated out of 4, except for cut resistance which is rated out of 5 and blade cut resistance which is rated from A-F. According to this standard, the gloves have the highest possible levels of abrasion and tear resistance, and a good level of cut resistance. They are therefore able to prevent injury and damage caused by rough or coarse materials and scrapes. While they are not suitable for environments where there is a high risk of lacerations, they can protect against lesser cut injuries.
How Is Technology Used to Enhance Performance?
Innovative technologies have been used to optimise the attributes of these gloves so that they are as comfortable and dexterous as they are protective. These technologies include:
- CUTtech: high performance yarns and fibres are utilised to create a resilient material that remains lightweight and breathable
- LIQUItech: Two technology platforms are layered on top of one another for resistance against oils and liquids
- DURAtech: The gloves are highly abrasion and tear resistant for better longevity and are also designed to be laundered so they can be kept in good condition
- ERGOtech: A snug, ultra-thin design ensures the gloves fit snugly against the hand and mimic its natural movements for maximum dexterity
- GRIPtech: The nitrile coating of these gloves has a micro-cup finish which enhances grip in dry, wet or oily conditions
Do the MaxiCut Gloves Offer Grip In Oily Conditions?
When working in slippery conditions or with potentially hazardous materials, being able to achieve a strong grip is vital. To ensure this, the MaxiCut Gloves have a texture, micro-cup finish. This rough texture prevents objects from slipping out of a user's grasp by creating traction, therefore helping to enable safe and productive manual handling.
Are the MaxiCut Resistant Level C Gloves Dexterous?
To facilitate controlled manual handling, the glove's liner is made with nylon and Spandex. These stretchy material help the glove manoeuvre along with the hand and fingers so dexterity is never restricted.
