What Are the MaxiCut Oil Resistant Level 3 Grip Gloves For?

The MaxiCut 3/4 Coated Gloves offer light resistance to water, good resistance to oil, and excellent resistance to abrasion, cuts and tears, therefore making them well suited to a host of different working conditions. These range from low-risk to high-risk, with their versatile design supported by a grippy nitrile palm coat that puts you firmly in control. Applications where we can recommend these gloves include:

  • Aerospace
  • Agriculture
  • Assembly
  • Builders
  • Car mechanics
  • Component handling
  • Construction
  • Emergency
  • Engineering
  • Gardening
  • Horticulture
  • Industrial
  • Local authorities
  • Machinist
  • Maintenance
  • Mechanics
  • Metal handling
  • Mining
  • Moulding
  • Offshore as
  • Offshore oil
  • Oil filtration
  • Oil handling
  • Oil operations
  • Oil refining
  • Petroleum
  • Pruning
  • Public transport
  • Public utilities
  • Railway maintenance
  • Transportation
  • Utilities

Please note that this is just a list of recommendations, and that these gloves would prove suitable in a far wider selection of tasks than those mentioned. They are the ultimate all-round gloves for dirty conditions, proving to protect your hands from oil and grease, rough materials and sharp edges.

How Much Oil Resistance Do they Provide?

They feature a nitrile 3/4 coating that covers much of the front of the palms and fingers. This will protect the palms of your hands completely from oil, ensuring that you can handle slippery items safely and cleanly. The 3/4 coating protects much of the hands, however it doesn't protect the entirety of the hands, so we wouldn't recommend fully submerging your hands in water.

What Else Do the MaxiCut Oil Resistant Gloves Protect Against?

The MaxiCut Gloves don't just protect your hands against oil. Their thick 3/4 coating is enough to protect your hands against other environmental and mechanical hazards too. These include:

  • Grease
  • Light water
  • Abrasion
  • Cuts
  • Tears
  • Dirt

How Do the MaxiCut Gloves Protect Your Hands?

These gloves offer outstanding protection against mechanical risks. Their resilience can be proven by their EN 388 score, which demonstrates cut, abrasion, tear and puncture resistance. Their broken down EN 388 ratings are listed below:

EN 388

  • EN 338: 4331B
HazardLevel of Resistance
Abrasion ResistanceLevel 4
Cut ResistanceLevel 3
Tear ResistanceLevel 3
Puncture ResistanceLevel 1
ISO Cut ResistanceLevel B

What Does This Mean?

If you aren't familiar with EN 388 ratings, these numbers may not mean much. The gloves achieve Level 4 abrasion, which is the highest possible and high tear protection. Their cut protection is graded against both the old and new standards, performing well against the old, but earning level B against blade cuts on a scale from A to F.

Is Grip Retained When Working With Oil?

Working with oil and grease no doubt makes your gloves task a little more difficult, but the makers of the MaxiCut Gloves have preempted this and used a nitrile micro-cup coating to enable an outstanding level of grip. These micro-cups are rough and coarse to the touch, meaning that it is more difficult to avoid dropping materials. This is perfect for handling materials in slippery environments, particularly with oil, water and grease.

Are the MaxiCut Oil Resistant Gloves Dexterous?

Featuring a lightweight nylon and Spandex blend liner, the MaxiCut Gloves are designed to offer an exceptional level of dexterity. This flexible design also enables enough sensitivity to ensure that you are in total control when handling materials.

How Durable Are the MaxiCut Oil Resistant Gloves?

Handling materials all day requires a certain level of durability, firstly because of the consistent use that the gloves will have to uphold, and secondly because you might have to handle rough and coarse materials that can damage the gloves. The MaxiCut Gloves offer level 4 abrasion resistance, meaning that they will stay in good quality despite handling abrasive materials. This helps to give you peace of mind that you can continue to use the gloves without worry that they will start to break during use.

Why Are the MaxiCut Gloves So Good For My Skin?

The Oeko-Tex Association has evaluated and certified this product as skin safe from the second it comes into contact with the skin. This has the impact of keeping the skin smooth, clean and fresh, which is perfect for extended work in hotter and uncomfortable working environments.

Can I Wash the MaxiCut Gloves?

MaxiCut Gloves are designed to be washed. You can do so by following the below steps:.

  • Use commercial laundry soap (do NOT use dry cleaning solutions)
  • Wash in warm to medium hot water, without exceeding 40°C
  • Wash for 10 minutes
  • Rinse in cold water
  • Repeat wash if soiling is heavy
  • Rinse in cold water

Please note that overall glove performance may be impacted during the wash. It is not recommended that you wash these gloves over 3 times.

What is EN 388?

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.
