Which Size Gloves Should I Select?

The MaxiCut Gloves are available in three different sizes, meaning that you should be able to find the size that's right for you. To measure your hand, measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles (excluding the thumb) with your hand open and your fingers together as seen in the image below.

Indications of Where to Measure Your Hand

Glove size Palm circ. Palm length Length of glove
Size 8 203 mm 182 240
Size 9 229 mm 192 250
Size 10 254 mm 204 260

Why Should I Trust the MaxiCut Level 3 Grip Gloves?

To ensure that you can trust what you are buying, these gloves have been tested to the most stringent of EU regulations. Tested to a range of EN Standards, the results show how the gloves can resist different mechanical hazards. Their results when tested to EN 388 (mechanical protection), are listed below.

Hazard Level of Resistance
Abrasion Resistance Level 4
Cut Resistance Level 3
Tear Resistance Level 4
Puncture Resistance Level 2
ISO Cut Resistance Level B

What Do These Scores Mean?

Each score is rated out of 4, except for cut resistance which is rated out of 5. From these results we can conclude that the gloves offer exceptional resistance to abrasion and tears, which has the impact of protecting your hands against sharp and coarse materials, and ensuring the longevity of your purchase. An impressive level 3 in cut resistance protects your hands against lesser cuts too, only helping to improve the versatility of the gloves.

What Are the MaxiCut Grip Gloves For?

The MaxiCut Palm-Coated Gloves are designed to offer excellent grip in dry environments, while outstanding abrasion and tear resistance, and good cut resistance offers protection against mechanical threats too. This excellent, all-round resistance is perfect for many tasks, including:

  • Aerospace
  • Agriculture
  • Assembly
  • Builders
  • Car mechanics
  • Component handling
  • Construction
  • Emergency
  • Engineering
  • Gardening
  • Horticulture
  • Industrial
  • Local authorities
  • Machinist
  • Maintenance
  • Mechanics
  • Metal handling
  • Mining
  • Moulding
  • Pruning
  • Public transport
  • Public utilities
  • Railway maintenance
  • Transportation
  • Utilities

Please note that this is just a list of recommendations, and that these gloves would prove suitable in a far wider selection of tasks than those mentioned. They are the ultimate all-round gloves for dry conditions, proving to protect your hands from abrasion, tears, rough materials and sharp edges.

How Much Cut Resistance Do the MaxiCut Grip Gloves Provide?

These gloves are called MaxiCut because they are designed for environments that have a cut risk. Level 3 isn't the best cut resistance, but it is by no means the worst either, offering enough protection to work in applications such as building, mechanics and packaging without your hands becoming injured. For gloves that have level 5 cut resistance, we would recommend the MaxiCut Level 5 Palm Coated Gloves 34-504.

What Else Do thE MaxiCut Grip Gloves Protect Against

The MaxiCut Grip Gloves aren't just designed to protect against cuts, and feature a range of different qualities that make the gloves surprisingly versatile. Wearing these gloves will protect them against:

  • Abrasion
  • Tears
  • Grip

How Is Technology Used to Enhance Performance?

Technology is used at the very heart of the making of these gloves, helping to maximise breathability, grip and more. Key technological features include:

  • CUTtech: For protection against cuts, these MaxiCut Gloves use unique high performance yarns and fibres, that manage to combine cut protection and maintain a high level of comfort.
  • AIRtech: A patented micro-foam coating is designed to keep the hands cool, with the makers boasting that these gloves are the most breathable available on the market.
  • ERGOtech: By mimicking the hand-at-rest position and using the latest knitting technology, these gloves reduce hand fatigue and increase comfort.
  • GRIPtech: With a micro-cup finish, the MaxiCut Gloves allow for controlled grip even in slippery environments.

Why Are the MaxiCut Gloves Ideal for Handling?

The MaxiCut Dry Gloves are designed for handling tasks, featuring a flexible and grippy coating that enhances your ability to control and handle the items that you are handling. This level of control is supported by excellent abrasion and tear resistance and good cut resistance, meaning that you can handle rough, sharp and coarse items with your hands protected. The combination in flexibility and protection is perfect for handling tasks, ideal for improving safety and productivity.

How Much Grip Do The MaxiCut Gloves Provide?

The MaxiCut Gloves sustain grip through a special micro-foam coating. This coating is rough and coarse to the touch, meaning that it is more difficult to avoid dropping materials. As the chances of you dropping items are reduced, it means that you can improve your productivity without worrying as much about safety and injury.

Are the MaxiCut Cut Level 3 Gloves Dexterous?

Featuring a lightweight nylon and Spandex blend liner, the MaxiCut Gloves are designed to offer an exceptional level of dexterity. This flexible design also enables enough sensitivity to ensure that you are in total control when handling materials.

How Durable Are the MaxiCut Palm-Coated Gloves?

Handling materials all day requires a certain level of durability, firstly because of the consistent use that the gloves will have to uphold, and secondly because you might have to handle rough and coarse materials that can damage the gloves. The MaxiCut Gloves offer level 4 abrasion resistance, meaning that they will stay in good quality despite handling abrasive materials. This helps to give you peace of mind that you can continue to use the gloves without worry that they will start to break during use.

Gloves from ATG can be washed safely in the following way:

1. Use commercial laundry soap or detergent (do NOT use dry cleaning solutions!)
2. Wash in warm to medium hot water, do not exceed 104°F (40°C)
3. Wash for 10 minutes
4. Rinse in cold water.
5. Repeat wash and rinse if soiling is especially heavy
6. Rinse in cold water
7. Tumble dry - maximum temperature 140°F (60°C)

When laundering gloves that have especially heavy dirt or grease, include several pieces of heavy canvas in the second wash cycle - friction from the canvas against the gloves helps loosen and remove deep dirt.

IMPORTANT NOTE

During the use of gloves and the laundering process glove performance can and will deteriorate. For critical areas requiring cut and heat resistance tests need to be conducted after use and laundering to ensure that the performance criteria still meet the needs of those using the glove. Safety Gloves can accept no liability once gloves have been washed.

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.

Where Can I Find Out More?

This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.
