HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves

Made with high-performance materials, the HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves set high industry standards for needle protection. The HexArmor NSR 4041 police gloves are safety gloves with added protective material on the palm and fingers. The HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves can be used in general applications where cut and puncture resistance is needed. Protection areas are focused to the palm, fingers and fingertips as these are considered the vulnerable in high risk searches and similar situations.

Designed with the law enforcement industry in mind, but well suited for most which require cut and puncture resistance, the HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves are a lightweight piece of personal protective equipment (PPE) that offer a surprising amount of field ready dexterity.

Main Features of the HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves

Needlestick Protection

The HexArmor NSR 4041 police search gloves offer a senior level of needlestick resistance. This is provided by the layering of SuperFabric brand material which is constructed out of guardplates that block and deflect needle hazards or trap and arrest them in the small gaps found between the guardplates. Multiple aligned layers of this fabric allow the HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves to provide extra resistance against needle hazards.

Hypodermic Needle Tested

The HexArmor NSR 4041 police tactical gloves are tested using actual 25 gauge hypodermic needles. This is an additional test further to European Union regulations which show a much more realistic representation of working conditions. Please see the below section on testing for full results.

Cut Resistant

The HexArmor NSR 4041 police gloves needle-proof properties also incorporate have the highest possible level of cut resistance in enhanced areas. SuperFabric is used on the underside of the gloves and around the fingertips, this protects the most vulnerable areas of the hand which are most likely to come into contact with high risk objects in searches and similar situations.

Fit

The HexArmor NSR 4041 police swat gloves have a memory span liner to ensure improved fit and feel for the user. The HexArmor NSR 4041 needle protection gloves are surprisingly lightweight with a high level of dexterity.

Back-of-Hand Protection

Additional padding is used at the back-of-hand and around the knuckles to protect against incidental bumps and impacts, as shown in the image below, making them great cop gloves.

Supplemental Test For Needlestick Resistance

The protective materials were also tested independent of SATRA labs, using a modified ASTM 1342 standard of puncture resistance. The ASTM 1342 test measures the force required to cause a sharp-edged puncture probe to penetrate through the sample. The modified test uses a much sharper 25 gauge medical grade needle resulting a more realistic needlestick resistance. Please see the below table to see the results of the HexArmor NSR 4041 Needle-Proof Police Gloves compared to other work gloves.

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.

Where Can I Find Out More?

This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.
